Did you ever take out toothpaste off the tube and try to put it back in again? If not, try it…It’s kind of impossible.
So what can we learn with this illustration? Words are like toothpaste in the sense that when you say something they can’t go back in again. When you say kind words to others, a word of encouragement, a compliment that rise up ‘’the happiness meter’’ in the person to whom you’re talking, you’re glorifying the Lord. It’s the same with toothpaste. It helps clean our teeth and our mouth to stay in good health. But, sometimes we can get messy with our tube of toothpaste, right?
At some point we can blurt away words that would not have been necessary or not the way the Lord Jesus would have told it. Words that can ruin other's reputation or that can bring down others in many different ways. When we squeeze hard on a toothpaste tube, it comes out and makes a jumble. When we open our mouth to speak it can do the same thing. Hurtful, unkind and tactless words can make a big chaos. Like I said, have you ever tried to put in back toothpaste into the tube…When you say something you can’t bring it in again. So our goal is to help each other just by saying good things toward someone. Please stick these Bible verses in your mind:
-Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24
-A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1
Have a nice week,
God Bless
