The beauty of winter | devotional

That's right. It's indeed the very last day of November , and we're having our first snowstorm! No school and work for us, as well as some power outages once in a while.. For today, I have a few thoughts on my mind to share that I've been enjoying lately + an exciting news at the end (so you'll have to wait for it!

Yesterday morning I started reading in the gospel of Mark, and I was amazed by, not only the attitude of a devoted follower of Christ, but also what obedience should really look like. When God gives a command, as followers shouldn't we simply go forth and do it? The truth is, yes. But...it can be plain hard sometimes.  It isn't always what we would want to do or hear. I believe that we never reach a point in our experience when we become fully accomplished to the point that we don't need God's intervention. In reality, as we go on in our life our need for strength and courage could become greater, but remember that God's limit for it will never end.

For a moment, let's just look at an example of what total surrender and obedience to God is.

"As He [the Lord] walked by the sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea:for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you [become] fishers of me. And straightway they forsook  their nets, and followed Him." Mark 1:16-18

What  I found amazing is that they immediately [straightway] let go of what they were doing and followed Him. They didn't wait another day, or till their next lunch break. Right away they rose up and went. I realize that this verse can be applicable to different degrees, or situations in our lives, but the truth remains the same. When God commands, we should obey. In this scenario, Andrew and Simon let go of their employment for the sake of the gospel, which is one of many things that God might ask us to put behind. Something that amazes me is that, they didn't stopped and asked the Lord a list of questions: "What are we going to do with our nets?" "How will we support ourselves?" When God asks, He will provide.

On another note, from what I see it's not required of us to have the highest level of education or social status to do such an act--they forsook their nets, and followed Him.They were fishermen with a great determination. There's nothing wrong with education, but may it not steel all of our time and energy so that the Lord's work (even in a smaller measure) is placed on the back burner. Let's make it our goal to always look for some opportunities to bless others during the day despite our busyness.

Now, let's talk about the great news! For some it might not be because if you follow me on Google you might get more notifications:-)Yep, that means more posts. I bought a new DSLR camera this week and I'm pretty pumped about it! The lens of my old one broke a while ago + other issues, so with some researches I decided to buy the new Nikon 3400 with the 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses (for those who know about photography stuff:-) Just before the snowstorm, I took my very first outdoor shots with it, and so far I like it more than my last one. It's a good start! Here are some pictures of the beauty of winter:

There's more to come! Have a great week y'all.
